Jan's father had this Chinese war dog (or 'fu dog') in his collection for many years, and now Jan has had him for more than twenty.  We believe he is very old but don't know how to authenticate that.  Just look at the intricate detail!  He is about 4" x 4" in size and he is made from (we guess) clay.  It appears that the teeth were glazed and then inserted into his mouth.  The same applies to the pearl-like nodes on his tail and other places that you can see.  In this and the other pictures it can be seen that all of the bodily orifices are well defined.  It has been suggested to us that this is a 'roof tile', but the level of detail and the obvious effort that went into its creation suggests that it may be much more than this. If you know something about artifacts of this kind, we would appreciate any leads.
